Nature has been the main inspiration for my art practice.  Geography was a key interest in the past which honed my observational skills of the landscape in all its moods. A love of the outdoors as well as being a keen traveller has provided a fertile source of ideas for my artworks. Environmental issues often feature in my mark making as connections between Man and Nature are explored.  Pristine locations hold particular appeal.

Artefacts made from natural materials have also been a source of inspiration. Treasured items include baskets made from found natural objects from remote locations. The tactile aspects of such items are both visually exciting and aesthetically pleasing.

Earlier works have largely been representational with a bold use of colour being a key feature of my work. In more recent works there has been a lyrical component as well as a more abstracted element.  Experimentation in both printmaking and drawing has provided a joyous adventure into the world of abstraction. Where interconnections are discovered the work that follows is often conceptual where the resulting marks link ideas visually.

I have been an active member of the Lane Cove Art Society participating in group exhibitions since 2008. I have been on the committee since 2009 in the capacity of secretary and I write a regular art column in the local paper.
